The Nathan McBride Series by Andrew Peterson

img_1445img_1444img_1449img_1448img_1447img_1446 I first stumbled onto this series while looking through the Kindle Unlimited library.  I was looking for something similar to the Jack Reacher series and thought I would give Mr. Peterson’s series a try.  I was not disappointed.

Nathan and his best friend, Harvey, have started a private security firm after leaving the CIA, but, because of their unique skills, they keep getting dragged back in.  One adventure after another, and each is more dangerous than the last.

Nathan is a big guy, very big.  He’s charming, highly skilled and a serious dog lover.  YAY!  But he has a big problem.  He was tortured horribly for three weeks in a Nicaraguan jungle, leaving his otherwise handsome face with deep gouges.  He’s gotten used to being stared at…constantly.

I liked this series quite a lot.  You won’t see any “star” ratings from me. I think they’re silly and useless.  Either I like it, or I don’t.  If I don’t, I’ll probably never mention the book or series.  There are no authors or publishers giving me books for an “honest review”, so I don’t owe a review to anyone.

This series of stories is not a romance.  If you’re looking for some steamy action between the sheets, it’s not here.  There is a love interest, and it’s very sweet and intense, but all the sweaty stuff is off page.  This story, though, has incredible depth.  The emotional and mental anguish that Nathan has to deal with, after his captivity and torture, kept me riveted.
