Kate Andretti is married to the Mob–but doesn’t know it. When her husband uproots them to Italy, Kate leaves everything she knows behind. Alone in a foreign land, she finds herself locked in a battle for her life against a husband and a family who will “silence” her if she will not do as they wish. When her husband tries to kill her, she accepts the protection offered by a wealthy businessman with Mafia ties. He’s not a mobster, he claims. Or is he?
Enrico Lucchesi never wanted to be a Mafia don, and now he’s caught in the middle of a blood feud with the Andretti family. His decision to help Kate brings the feud between the families to a boil. When Enrico is betrayed by someone in his own family, the two of them must sort out enemies from friends–and rely on each other or die alone. The only problem? Enrico cannot reveal his identity to Kate, or she’ll bolt from his protection, and he’ll be duty-bound to kill her to safeguard his family’s secret.
Attacks from without and within push them both to the breaking point, and soon Enrico is forced to choose between protecting the only world he knows and saving the woman he loves.
Content Warning: Revenge is a dark, atypical romance that contains graphic language, sexual situations, and violence. You have been warned.

The first thing I want to mention is that it is seldom that a book so celebrated ever becomes a free read, so this one is pretty special and rare. The next thing I want to say is how much I loved Enrico, and how much I wanted to shake Kate until her teeth rattled! Grrr…..! Kate aggravated me from the beginning. She left a husband, Vince, because he was violent, wanted to kill her and was part of the mob. She went straight to Enrico…one of the most important mobsters, although she didn’t know it at the time…and was in his bed the first night. Enrico had been in love with her for months, something else she didn’t know at the time, so Enrico was golden, to me. Kate, however, went straight to another man’s bed from her husband’s! I didn’t like her much for doing that. I forgave her later. All of that happens early in the story, so it’s not a spoiler.
Ms. Delamar took me on a tour of the beautiful landscape of northern Italy, her settings being gorgeous villas, winding roads and blue lakes. She gave me a small look at the inner workings of a mafia family…the love, the hate, the jealousy and betrayals that can make the life of a capo, the head of a mafia family, a constant barrage of potentially deadly decisions…both for his family and himself. She used just enough Italian words and phrases to make me actually feel immersed in the story. A beautifully crafted book. A delight to read.
You should pay attention to the warning below the blurb. As much as I loved Enrico, he is an anti-hero. If that’s a problem for you, this may not be a good choice. I loved every page and recommend this book highly. If it sounds good to you, pick up a free copy and…
