Beards, brothers, and bikers! Oh my!
Identical twins Beau and Duane Winston might share the same devastatingly handsome face, but where Beau is outgoing and sociable, Duane is broody and reserved. This is why perpetually level-headed Jessica James has been in naïve and unhealthy infatuation with Beau Winston for most of her life. Whereas Duane and Jessica have always been adversaries. She can’t stand him, and she’s pretty sure he can’t stand the sight of her…
But after a case of mistaken identity, Jessica finds herself in a massive confusion kerfuffle. Jessica James has spent her whole life paralyzed by the fantasy of Beau and her assumptions of Duane’s disdain; therefore she’s unprepared for the reality that is Duane’s insatiable interest, as well as his hot hands and hot mouth and hotter looks.
When Jessica finds herself drawn to the man who was always her adversary, how much of her level-head heart is she willing to risk?
Truth or Beard is book #1 in the Winston Brother’s series. Each book is a standalone, full length (110k words), contemporary romantic comedy novel, and follows the romantic exploits and adventures of one of the six Winston Brothers.
Several people recommended this author to me so when I saw that TRUTH OR BEARD was free (sorry, it’s not free now), I decided I’d go ahead and give her a go. And let me tell you….I wanted to kick my own butt for not reading her sooner. The characters, writing style, story, everything about this book grabbed me from the very beginning. I fell completely in love with the Winston Brothers, all 7 of them. TRUTH OR BEARD is Duane’s book. Duane has a twin named Beau. Duane is the broody one, Beau is the sweet, easy going one. Jessica James grew up with the twins and always thought Beau was the one for her……… until a case of mistaken identity proved her wrong. But Jessica and Duane have never really been friends. They were always arguing and annoying each other. That is, until Jessica finds out that she was making out with Duane instead of Beau (this happens very early in the book so it’s not really a spoiler). Then they discover that they can’t get enough of each other but they both wanted different things out of life. I really enjoyed watching them navigate through their new relationship. Their story is sweet, sexy and funny. We get to know the Winston brothers and their sister and I’m very much looking forward to reading more of this series. It has some of my favorite things……..humor, small, charming southern town, fun, colorful secondary characters, some sweet and some sexy and swoon worthy bearded hot guys. Honestly, I can’t say enough good things about this book. I highly recommend it. And I will check out Penny Reid’s other series too. I love a bit of humor in romance books and Penny does humor very well.
